Garden Lanterns
Outdoor Lanterns for Your Garden
Outdoor lanterns significantly gained in popularity over the last few years. It's not a surprise since they are both practical and decorative. The wide range of materials, colours and designs creates plethora of variants to choose from so that everyone finds something perfect for their garden. During the day you can enjoy their charming look and in the evening use them with candles or fairy lights to create a romantic atmosphere.
Which Lantern Size to Choose
Garden lanterns come in many different shapes and sizes making them ideal to decorate with. The smaller ones look great on the windowsills, put a couple of those in a row to lighten your home from the outside. They also make great table centrepieces as they provide extra light during the evening. The larger and taller lanterns work best when put simply on the floor. Placing them in the corner of a porch or terrace, or along the patch in your garden will provide you with a stunning effect that is so easy to achieve. Try to mix and match different sizes if you want a more complex effect. Three or more work wonderfully in larger spaces as they will provide you with more light when used with candles. You can also mix the styles and designs for a bolder effect.
Garden Lanterns and their Designs
When it comes to the design, choose whichever suits you best. The open lanterns are usually made from wood or metal as their role is just to frame whatever is placed inside them. They look light and delicate and are supposed to complement the decor rather than dominate it. The closed lanterns are usually constructed from metal and glass. The glass is placed in a robust frame so that the candle or lights are protected from the weather. Remember to use candles only with lanterns that feature tempered glass, otherwise, the glass pane may crack from the heat of the flame.
